Wrapping up the Sobrio Tour — 6 weeks, 7 colleges, and 1 party RV
The Sobrio Launch Tour started in August 2013 with the goal of bringing Sobrio safe rides to college campuses across the country. It all started at Stony Brook University, moving on to University of Rhode Island, University of Massachusetts, and University of Connecticut, then heading west to Ohio University, Michigan State University, and the University of Michigan. Each school was an amazing success, with each getting safe rides and spreading Sobrio love throughout the campus.
We had a pretty simple schedule: head to a campus, give out a bunch of free Sobrio swag, spread the word to students, and then give some safe rides in the Sobrio party RV.
The RV was our humble home, and we spent countless nights sleeping in Walmart parking lots, sneaking into dorms for showers, and mixing it up with the local folk. We met great people, saw some great sites, and it was an experience we’ll never forget.
Here are some highlights from our travels.
Prepping the RV
Such a beautiful machine.
Whoah! Look at all that free stuff
Honorary first breakfast. Cheers-ing some muffins and hitting the road!
Stony Brook University
Visiting the sign
Doing some grilling on campus. Turns out it’s not allowed.
Some safe rides in progress.
Some quick RV repairs. Nothing the ol’ Dutchman can’t handle.
Unfortunately, we did leave our gas cap somewhere in a Stony Brook Hess station
University of Rhode Island
Hey, another sign!
Holy smokes, Rhode Island is a nice place.
Some nice people.
Some nice dougie-ing
University of Massachusetts
A picture trying to capture the beautiful UMass campus.
A party bus that thought they were cooler than us.
Hanging on the rooftop in the parking lot / home for the night.
It also made for a nice office space in the morning
And of course, the safe rides.
We just couldn’t keep Nadav out of that banana suit
University of Connecticut
We only had 1 night here, but as our alma mater, we felt obliged to do it right. We broke out the disco lights and did some cash cab in the RV.
Hey look! A sign!
Who knew Ohio was such a nice place?
The people in Ohio were equally nice.
We also found this at a local campground…
Michigan State University
No way, a sign!
These people were lovin’ Sobrio.
Look how much joy Sobrio is bringing these people! It’s probably just for the free shirts though.
We even caught a glimpse of the mascot, but he didn’t want anything.
We painted a rock.
Chalkin’ up the place.
Apparently people here party on giant boats from the 1800s. Every Wednesday.
Giving safe rides to some bros.
Pancake day in the RV!
Enjoying the local flavor.
Sobrio visits Detroit
University of Michigan
Another nice campus.
Spreading the love to the UM campus.
Some dude juggling on a unicycle. He did this all day for seemingly no reason at all.
This guy was a major party-pooper.
Another look at a nice-looking campus.
Oh snap, homecoming at Michigan!
Heading back home
So close to home!
The trip was hard on all of us. Especially Mags.
We also stopped by UConn’s homecoming game to bring some tailgating joy.
And that’s it!
The Dutchman is tired and so are we. But the Sobrio spirit will live on.
Can’t wait for the next one ;)
